STEEL STANDARDS AND ICONS

Description: In order to be able to identify the steels by dividing them into certain genera and species; The use of signs such as numbers, letters is called SIGNALING.

DIN-STANDARDS

  • A) Symbols of unalloyed steel based on the tensile strength of the steel:
  • St. is brought to the head. Like St 42 - also prefixed by C%.
  • For example: C 45-C 35.
  • Also to indicate special attributes;
  • (f): Suitable for induction hardening. Example Cf 53.
  • (k): limited in sulfur and phosphorus. For example Ck 45.
  • (q): suitable for cold forging. Example Cq 35
  • B) Symbols of alloy steels
  • Based on low alloy steels such as Cr, CO, Mn, Ni, W = X4 Mo, V, Al, Pb = X10 C, S, P = X100 42: Percent of C 0.42 4:4 = 1 (Cr percentage).
  • High alloy steels are prefixed with (x) and the last digits show the percentage of alloy directly divided by any coefficient Example: X20 Cr 13 C percentage 0.20 Cr percentage 13.

SAE/AISI STANDARDS

  • It is among the most used systems and is based on chemical analysis.
  • 4 or 5 digit number systems from 1 to 9 are used.
  • The first two digits of the system: the steel number, the last two digits represent 100 times the C value.
  • Example. 10 in 1040 means: Carbon steel type 40: Carbon percentage 0.40%.
  • To be specific, letters such as H (hardenable guarantee) are placed at the beginning.
  • Example. Like 1541 H.
  • Indicates with the letter (L) and (B) in the addition of lead or boron

TSE STANDARDS

  • 'Religion' was taken as basis in the preparation of steel-related standards.
  • Therefore, TSE 111 Turkish standards are the same as DIN standards.
  • In the TURKISH IRON-STEEL Industry; Inspired by SAE and DIN norms, each organization (TCD-ERDEMİR-MKE-ASİL ÇELİK) has adopted its own norms and these norms have entered our industry.
  • MCI; SAE symbols are prefixed with C. Example D. 1040 C. ASIL CELIK like 5140; It uses the same as SAE in the 1st degree and DIN norms in the 2nd degree.
  • SAE 1040 – SAE 1050
  • Like 9SMn 36 – 16MnCr 5

DIN-STANDARDS

  • A string of 5 digits is used to identify the material.
  • The other two have no property. The first 4 digits indicate the type of steel.
  • The first two of these numbers are indicative. The other two have no property
